This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the North East’s highest achieving schools; our motto ‘Excellence for All’ is at the heart of our work. We have a strong focus on developing our students personally and academically.
Based in a stunning coastal location, we are rightly proud of the opportunities we offer for students and staff. Our ethos as an Anglican academy is entirely inclusive and no faith based pupil admission criteria are applied. Our motto of ‘Excellence for all’ is a living reality of day to day life at Whitburn
We require a non-teaching Pastoral Year Leader to join the Sixth Form Team. Working with the Head of Sixth Form you will be responsible for supporting students who may be experiencing significant barriers to their academic progress. The successful applicant will have experience of working with young people and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences. This would be an ideal position for a graduate seeking their first steps into a career in counselling, mentoring or teaching.
The purpose of the role is to work in partnership with school leaders, teachers, SEND staff, parents / carers, students and other professionals. You will be expected to provide comprehensive support and guidance for our students to ensure they thrive in our Sixth Form
We are looking to recruit someone who has the skills, qualities, experience and knowledge outlined in the Person Specification and can meet the requirements of the Job Description. If you feel you can offer these attributes, we are keen to receive your application.
Job Description, Person Specification and Application Form are available from the Academy Website.
Alternatively contact Paula Morton via [email protected]
Closing date: Noon on Monday 1st June.
Whitburn Church of England Academy is an equal opportunities employer and the Academy is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the DBS and be subject to a range of other pre-recruitment checks. Please note that, without exception, written references will be taken up and made available to the Governing Body BEFORE the final selection stage.
