Application

The application process for ITT can seem complex at first, but please don’t worry! We are happy to help with any stage of your application process and to clarify any queries you may have.

Prior to application it is always good to make contact with the school to talk through your plans and discuss any queries. This is also the point where we can hopefully arrange some in school experience to help with your application. Please note that prior school experience is not essential for a successful application. We will also help with advice on personal statements. Please call the main office on 0191 529 3712 or email [email protected] and make sure you say it is regarding Initial Teacher Training. You can also use the DFE’s dedicated advice service https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/ for to help with any queries.

Once you are ready, you must apply through the DFE’s own application portal:

This will allow you to set up your own account with the DFE to input your personal details such as qualifications and complete / manage your applications. Please note applications for 2022 cohort open on 12th October 2021

You should also make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria in respect of qualifications. We prefer candidates with a 2:1 degree, but will consider those with a 2:2 who can demonstrate relevant experience. Students with international qualifications should use the NARIC service to check the equivalency of their qualifications.
