Information for Students – GCSE and Vocational Qualifications 2020 Posted on: 20 Aug 2020

Dear Student

The following information explains how your grades have been generated this year. It also contains information about what to do if you have a query about your results.

STOP PRESS: on the 17th of August, the Chair of Ofqual published the following statement informing students that centre assessed grades (teacher grades) would be used to issue your results:

After reflection, we have decided that the best way to do this is to award grades on the basis of what teachers submitted. The switch to centre assessment grades will apply to both AS and A levels and to the GCSE results’

Statement from Roger Taylor, Chair, Ofqual 17/08/2020

If you are concerned about any of your results, please visit the ofqual website and view the following information carefully:

Please remember that the appeal process is limited to specific criteria this series:

‘Firstly, you must make sure that you’re clear on what basis you can appeal your result; you can only appeal if you think there has been an error in the process. You can’t appeal just because you do not agree with the grade you received.’

‘You can’t appeal your grade because you don’t agree with the centre assessment grade or rank order position submitted by your school or college.’
