Appointment of Interim Acting Principal Posted on: 14 Mar 2019

A message from our Chair of Governors

I write to let you know that following Mr Hardie’s departure to pastures new at the end of this term, the Board of Governors have appointed Mr Crowe to be the Interim Acting Principal for the Summer term. I am sure I can rely on you to give Mr Crowe your full support.

The Board of Governors have already begun the task of appointing a permanent Principal ready for the autumn term. This will be a robust and rigorous process. We hope to be able to announce the name of the new Principal early in the summer term.

At this point I would like to pay tribute to Mr Hardie. He took over the running of the Academy as the Interim Acting Principal in tragic circumstances following the sudden death of Paula Williams. Then in the summer term, after a rigorous process he was awarded the permanent post. Mr Hardie has served the Academy well. Much has been achieved during his reign – World Class School status, improving GCSE results, the opening of a Sixth Form and the recognition by Ofsted that we are still an Outstanding school to name a few.

Of course we will miss Mr Hardie but our thanks for all he has done for Whitburn and our warmest wishes go with him as he takes up his new post at Northumberland Academy.

With all good wishes.

Jean Mulley
