Dear Class of 2020

I regret to inform you that sadly, in light of the restrictions currently in force in the North East of England, I have taken the very difficult decision to cancel the Leavers’ Ball for Year 11 students. This decision has been taken in response to the ongoing Coronavirus situation and in the light of Government advice.

I am conscious that students were required to pay a deposit for the event and we will therefore need to reimburse any monies already paid. All payments made via Parent Pay will be refunded directly into your account. If, however, payment was made via cash or cheque to the Academy Business office, then a member of the finance staff will contact you directly regarding a refund.

I appreciate that this will be very upsetting for both students and their families, and that a great deal of money may have already been spent. Unfortunately, this is an unprecedented situation and as the safety and welfare of our students and staff is of paramount importance, we have had no choice but to make this very difficult decision.

I hope that you are keeping safe and enjoying the next stage of your education. I will be in contact later in the year to discuss the distribution of your examination certificates.
