Congratulations to Matthew who has been selected to represent Great Britain both in the European and World Championships.  Matthew secured a podium finish both at Krakow and Bonn, which are European and World cup events.

Matthew’s other achievements so far this year are:

2) ranked 20 in Europe and the World being the highest ranked under 17 Britain

3) currently England Youth Champion and the under 16 British Youth Champion for Epee

4) ranked No1 British under 17 Cadet and the winner of the senior Liverpool open and winner of the BSC under 20 Newcastle competitions

5) selected to represent England in the Fencing Commonwealth games which are to be held in Cape town in South Africa in July 2015 and also selected as reserve for the under 20 team.

6) successful in securing a place on the World talent pathway, the only fencer from the North of England from any weapon both male and female.   This enables Matthew to train regularly with the top elite fencers in Britain, based in London.

We are always pleased to celebrate pupil achievements at Whitburn although some pupils can be quite modest about sharing their successes with us.  Should any Parent/Carer have any stories of success or celebration that they wish to share with us please contact Mrs Batey, Principal’s PA at the Academy.
