FAB Awards 2017 Posted on: 21 Dec 2017

This year was the 8th South Tyneside FAB Awards You! Celebration event.  The event was started by a group of young people (Friends against Bullying) as part of an anti-bullying campaign.

This year a total of 21 schools and community groups were involved, including our Academy, who showcased a wide variety of initiatives that they had undertaken to help stamp out bullying.  17 FAB (Fight Against Bullying) Awards were presented and we were thrilled to receive another accolade this year in recognition of the work done to tackle this issue.  Additionally, 7 ‘Role Model’ Award nominations and 7 ‘Inclusion’ Award nominations this year; we were delighted to be nominated in the Inclusion category and that Mrs Craig, our PSHE co-ordinator, was also nominated for her work to help create a safer and more inclusive school environment.

Members of South Tyneside’s Super Safety Squad (formerly the Junior Local Safeguarding Children Board) decided the winner of the Role Model Award after consideration of the skills and actions expected of a role model.  the Inclusion Award winner was chosen by a group of adults from across the local council.

The work presented at this event showed great creativity and was a testament to all young people involved.  Pictured below; Alice Casey, Scott Middleton, Mrs Craig, Preet Kaur with our awards.
