Graduates Achieve an Excellent Set of Results Posted on: 6 Sep 2019

Whitburn students are celebrating another excellent set of GCSE results, by achieving our highest average points score than previous years. Students achieved a tremendous set of results with 76% achieving a pass in both English and Maths, with the average GCSE grade being a grade 5 across the cohort.

The highly sought after top grades of Grades 8 and 9 increased significantly to a total of 84 Grade 9’s and 142 Grade 8’s. This marks an increase of nearly 50% on the previous year.

The Academy is particularly encouraged by a significant improvement in boys’ progress this year, who have also achieved a far greater share of the top grades than previous years.

John Crowe, Principal, commented, “We are absolutely delighted with this outstanding set of examination results. I am happy to see that our students have been rewarded for their hard work and have achieved some stunning grades across a wide range of subjects.” I would like to thank our hard working staff for their commitment and work in preparing the students for the exams and parents and carers for their excellent support. Well done to all students of the ‘Class of 2019’ who have performed very well despite a very intense exam period for all now that all GCSEs have been reformed.

Our A Level students also excelled this year, achieving our best results so far! Linked below is an article outlining the achievements of our fantastic students.
