On 13th and 15th October Year 8 pupils were given the opportunity to visit Nissan in Washington. During the visit the pupils were able to attend a classroom based workshop around engineering and looking at the range of careers and opportunities in the engineering sector. The pupils also attended a session introduced by recent engineering graduates working at Nissan and engaged in some very exciting and challenging group work activities to highlight engineering and how it affects everything we have and everything that is produced.
The pupils were then given a tour of the Nissan Production Plant whereby pupils were able to see the production lines in use and were able to see how a car is built from the shell as it arrives on the production line and how all the parts are added through to its completion and testing ready for export. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all concerned and it has given pupils food for thought in terms of their aspirations for the future!
