Showing Racism the Red Card Posted on: 30 Nov 2016

Earlier this year, the Academy took part in the national ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ competition.  This annual competition encourages pupils to think about racism and pupils were asked to produce a piece of anti-racism themed music, artwork or creative writing about this issue.

The competition attracted 20,000 entries and we are delighted that one of our very talented pupils, Sharlize Sowden, came 2nd in the Creative Writing category for her age group.  Sharlize, in Year 10, was subsequently invited to the Awards’ Ceremony held at West Ham United Football Club, to receive her prize.  You can read her wonderful piece below, the Academy could not be more proud of her fantastic efforts!
