Success at Swimming Gala Posted on: 12 May 2017
Some of our Year 7 and Year 8 girls recently took part in the Tyne and Wear Schools’ Games Swimming Gala – the only school representing South Tyneside!
Our team competed against 13 other schools in the Medley and Freestyle (4 x 50m) Relay Race and qualified from our heats to progress to the final in both events.
Our team was made up of Amy Duncan, Sophie Graham, Jessica Ord and Libby Rawden (Year 7) along with Pru Hubbard and Natasha Thorpe (Year 8).
The Freestyle team: Natasha Thorpe, Pru Hubbard, Jessica Ord and Sophie Graham.
The Medley Team: Natasha Thorpe (back stroke), Georgia Richardson (breast stroke), Amy Duncan (butterfly) and Libby Rawden (front crawl).
Our team was placed 4th in the final of both events, which is a fantastic achievement considering our school does not have a pool! Mrs Rush is extremely proud of all the girls who competed, a special mention also goes to Natasha Thorpe for her fantastic technique!
