The Academy presented Frank L Baum’s Wizard of Oz this half term with great success. A magical set, designed by Mrs Dembry, Mrs Sarginson and Mrs Stankiewicz and our 6th Form Art students provided the perfect back drop for our young performers.
Laura Roberts and Jessica Wells-Auchterlonie gave spellbinding performances as Dorothy ably supported by Megan Heslop (The Scarecrow), Kate Wallace (The Tin Man) and Laura Baxter (The Lion).
Alicia Williamson and Katie Stubbs were superb with their portrayals of the sinister Wicked Witch of the West and they contrasted perfectly with confident performances from Melanie 
Owens and Abbie McGahan in their role as Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.
Jessica Cain, Ruby Edmiston, Olivia Ferry, Beth Perry, Charlotte Beech, Rosie Buhaenko and Carl Murta all produced excellent performances, as did the vast number of chorus members who performed with gusto and vigour throughout the week.
Mr Rose, Mr Anderson, Miss Cresswell and Miss Nelson would like to congratulate all of cast members and the stage crew for their efforts in what has been a very intense, tiring but ultimately rewarding and enjoyable week. Special thanks must go to all of the parents whose continued support is very much appreciated by the staff and pupils alike.
