PE Kit and Uniform Posted on: 25 Jun 2021

From Monday 28th June 2021 we will be reopening the PE changing rooms for students to change into their PE kit, in time for their PE lesson. This means that students will no longer be required to come to school wearing their PE kit, but should simply bring it with them in their school bag.

Most students are wearing the relatively ‘new’ PE kit, which was introduced 2019/2020. Where parents/carers could not purchase the new kit at that time, we allowed older students to wear items from the old kit. However, from September 2021 it is an expectation that all students are in the Academy’s new PE kit; items for which are listed below and can be purchased from Bolam Sports. https://www.whitburncofeacademy.org/school-life/uniform/pe-uniform.html

Additionally we would ask that you review your child’s uniform to ensure that it is in accord with our Academy policy, as linked here:
https://www.whitburncofeacademy.org/school-life/uniform/acceptable-uniform.html

Whilst the vast majority of students in our Academy attend wearing impeccable uniform, there are a small minority who are wearing uniform that is inappropriate, i.e.

  • skirts that are figure hugging and/or NOT knee touch
  • trousers that are short in length – i.e. do not touch school shoes
  • shoes which display a coloured embellishment, i.e. a gold bow.

We are extremely proud of the presentation of the vast majority of our students and this is commented upon fondly by visitors to the school and the general public. We are also cognisant that uniform will be replenished by parents/carers over the summer break. Please be reminded not be nagged into spending a fortune on designer items as they are neither needed nor desirable.

Over the remaining weeks we will be getting in touch with parents/carers regarding any issues of non-compliance, so these can be addressed promptly.

We thank you for your continued support; if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the Main Academy Office.
